The gate + the sponge — from the a-priori

The XOR read from the a-priori: not a comparator (a match) but an open/closed gate with the shared prior as the reference. CLOSED = the claim is the prior (identity, sealed); OPEN = a difference. The sponge (the folded witness) absorbs an open claim by re-grounding it on the prior (relocating it on its own fold — attest): groundedabsorbed (the gate re-closes, the difference metabolised); un-groundable (bare / not-yet-folded) → a residual E (the anti-causal bit — the trust signal). Absorption is re-grounding, never a tolerance — a grounded difference of any size absorbs.

claim-rate — the claim's relational stance. 0 = the claim IS the prior (gate closed, identity); any other value = a difference (gate open). Size doesn't matter to absorption — grounded absorbs at any rate. Try 1, or 8. bare claim — a structurally un-groundable claim (no fold): the sponge can't re-ground it → a residual E. (The bare-hinge intruder.) claim-laps — the claim's own observation window. Too small → the claim isn't yet folded → residual E now; it grounds (absorbs) once laps exceed its witness horizon (~2·being). Blank = full. witness-rate — the sponge's own stance (it must be folded to absorb). Any moderate value. What to look for: a grounded claim — any rate — is absorbed (re-grounded, E 0); a bare or under-observed claim leaves a residual E. Never a tolerance.

The metabolic transition — grounding, not tolerance

Take an under-observed claim (`claim-rate 0.2333` → being 500, witness horizon ~1000) and sweep its own window over the octaves 2ⁿ. The residual E holds at 1 while the claim is un-folded, then drops to 0 the moment it grounds (folds on the prior) — the sponge then absorbs it. That's grounding (crossing its own witness horizon), not a difference-size tolerance.
